Insidious vs Mutiny: Highest Rotten Tomatoes Score

What happened: The primary driver was the reported revelation of a strong initial Rotten Tomatoes score for "Insidious: Out of the Further." By August 20, 2026, the film was reported to hold a 67% Tomatometer score, described as a franchise record ^[1][2]. This significantly outscored "Mutiny," which had an early critics' score of approximately 44-49% ^[3][4][5]. This information, likely released on or just before the August 19th market spike, would directly explain the outcome's increase. Social media was not identified as a primary driver based on the available research.

What happened: The primary driver of the 18.0 percentage point drop for "Insidious: Out of the Further" on August 18, 2026, was likely the emergence of early critical reception and the lack of a finalized Rotten Tomatoes score for the film ahead of its August 21, 2026, wide release ^{[6][7][8][9][10]}. As of August 20, 2026, while "Insidious: Out of the Further" was reported to have a 67% score ^[1][11][12], information regarding its specific Rotten Tomatoes score had not been explicitly disclosed or finalized, despite reports indicating it was receiving critical attention ^{[6][13][14][15]}. This uncertainty or initial critical sentiment, potentially falling below market expectations, appears to have caused the market participants to reduce their probability that "Insidious" would have a higher score than "Mutiny," which had a known score fluctuating around 44-49% ^{[3][16][17][5][18]}. Social media activity was not a primary driver, as the provided information focuses on traditional news and Rotten Tomatoes scores.

What happened: The primary driver of the price spike was the widely disseminated news that Insidious: Out of the Further had reportedly achieved an all-time Rotten Tomatoes record for the horror franchise with its debut score, following its international release ahead of the domestic debut ^[13][15][19]. While specific social media posts are not available, this significant positive critical reception, becoming known around August 15, 2026, would have rapidly spread as a viral narrative and acted as the primary driver for the market movement.

What happened: The primary driver for the 31.0 percentage point drop in "Mutiny"'s probability on August 14, 2026, was the film's negative critical reception and its low Rotten Tomatoes debut score. "Mutiny" received polarized reviews, with critics citing a formulaic narrative, and debuted with a 44% Tomatometer score around its August 14 release window, described as "horrible" ^{[16][20][5][21]}. This significantly diminished its likelihood of achieving a higher score than "Insidious: Out of the Further," which currently stands at 67% ^[1][3]. Social media was irrelevant as a primary driver, with traditional news outlets reporting on the film's critical performance coinciding with the price movement ^[5][4][22].

What happened: The provided web research offers no specific information regarding social media activity, traditional news, or market structure factors that occurred on August 13, 2026, which could explain a 25 percentage point spike in the "Mutiny" outcome on the prediction market. While the market movement suggests a significant shift in perceived probability for Mutiny to achieve a higher score, there is no evidence of an actual 25 percentage point Rotten Tomatoes score spike for Mutiny on that date ^{[4][5][22][23][24][25][26]}. Mutiny's score debuted at 44% and is currently 49% ^[3][5]. Consequently, without specific details linking a driver to August 13, 2026, social media's role in this particular market movement cannot be determined from the available data.
